Joeven R. Castro is Vice President for Student Development and Continuing Education of Far Eastern University, Philippines. He is a student affairs practitioner and media and information literacy (MIL) advocate. He promotes student wellbeing and mentoring programmes and has advanced MIL initiatives within and beyond FEU. He trained under the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program, served as a digital literacy consultant for UNESCO Phnom Penh under the auspices of the Asian Media Information and Communication Centre, and contributed to Cambodia’s digital society initiative. He has also trained Filipino public school teachers on integrating MIL into the curriculum through the National Council for Children’s Television.


Dr Castro holds a PhD in Communication from the University of Auckland where he researched on Filipino public school teachers as crisis communication intermediaries. He holds a certificate in sustainability governance from the University of Cambridge, and degrees in Communication from FEU (bachelor’s) and University of the Philippines Diliman (master’s).
